I’m trying, trust me, I’m hardly trying to understand Nokia marketing guys. But I really can’t understand how the take decisions. I just found (thanx to Giskard) that N810 is available and in stock on UK’s Nokia Shop. I know, Nokia is a big company, and things like that. But, as I already asked some time ago, do they have a/any strategy? For sure they have to, that would only be nice to understand it ;).
I’d also be happy to know when italian users will be able to order their new long-awaited new toy :)
Edit: I was not complaining. I just can’t understand how Nokia (and again, not Maemo) is taking decisions about marketing. My thoughts weren’t related to discount codes. I just can’t see a clear plot in announcing a product, then releasing it somewhere, then put it on hold, and then release here and there. That’s it.

They have already told us that we need to wait till mid december. Please wait a little more and stop complaining everyday! :)
Available since a week in France and Spain …
Spain Store : 400 Euros
French Store : 499 Euros ….
OUCH !
Oh, I feel your pain. They have it online (USA), but it is backordered. And there is no way to put in a developer code…
Well I know that many “local” on-line stores are NOT Nokia’s direct stores.
So they might have it or not, or they might choose to show it up “backordered” or taking pre-orders.. it’s up to them and not to Nokia.
The Italian store is direct.nokia.com so I think it’s a real Nokia store and they choose (strategy :) ) to sell it on the 15th (I believe) when also the codes will be activated (actually probably is the way around: the codes will be activated when Nokia will start to directly sell the N810).
Unless, of course, those stores are also direct Nokia stores :)
In that case.. my theory does not hold up :p
Hum Aniello Del Sorbo, you are right the n810 is not available yet on direct nokia for this country too.
unconfirmed voice says that the 12/12/07 nokia will start sell the N810 (read it somewher over internettable forums)
Tomorrow? May be…
I hope actually as I would like to have it by Christmas!!
Somebody at Nokia remembered me last friday that the unofficial codes activation date was 15th dec.
Anyway, nothing makes sense in this. Nothing. It makes no sense nokia doesn’t make a marketing date the day they launch n810. It makes no sense they wait one month to activate the codes of the developers program.
It makes no sense there is no official place were someone at nokia says when is the product being sold and why it took so long for the european shops and the codes to be available.
Not really, they said something like we hope to make the codes activated BY Dec. 15th.
My hope rely on that “by” (that’s a whole lot different from “on”).
It makes no sens from our point of view. I am sure there is a logic behind it. Probably they will later tell us.
We just have to wait a few more days.
In the meanwhile… Canola2 is expected to be released tomorrow. We’ll have something to play with :D
@Luca Ognibene: I was *not* complaining. I just can’t understand how Nokia is taking decisions about marketing. My thoughts weren’t related to discount codes. I just can’t see a clear plot in announcing a product, then releasing it somewhere, then put it on hold, and then release here and there. That’s it.

How about ordering it from Play.com (http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/3514386/Nokia-N810-Internet-Tablet/Product.html). I use this service all the time from the Netherlands. I presume they deliver to Italy too. It’s EUR449.49 including delivery.
@nicolas: yes, this could be a solution (even if this way I couldn’t use my discount code) but not the answer to a “strange” marketing strategy :)
